I'm also involved with another new project called Hobsons Choice. Hobson's Choice make contemporary acoustic music, they dub as "Scenic Folk". Using an idiosyncratic line-up of vibraphone, trumpet, voice and acoustic guitar, Hobson's Choice combine folk/roots songwriting and jazz composition to shape songs that are sometimes rich in their words and melody, other times in their color and architecture. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Hobson's Choice is a free choice in which only one option is offered, and one may refuse to take that option. The choice is therefore between taking the option or not taking it. The phrase is said to originate from Thomas Hobson, a 16th century livery stable owner at Cambridge, England who, in order to rotate the use of his horses, offered customers the choice of either talking the horse in the stall nearest the door or taking none at all.
